Year 11 - 2009-10
The Final Stage
This is the year during which Year 11 students build towards their futures
after Grey Court. Therefore careful consideration needs to be given to
what students plan to do when they leave school, what they need in order
to achieve their plans and to consider carefully how they are going to
be successful. It is a year that flies by with little time to catch up
on missed opportunities.
This is a crucial and busy year and commitment and organisation are essential
components to success. Students will find that the path to their future
plans will be smoother if they meet the following expectations: |
 |
- To attend school regularly, on time and in school uniform.
- To keep up with homework and coursework deadlines, and to honour GCSE
commitments.
- To bring the correct equipment and books required for learning to all
lessons.
- To use the planner correctly for organisation, deadlines and target
setting.
- To participate positively in lessons.
- To involve themselves in the extra curricular experiences offered during
the year.
A number of events have been organised to help you and your child make informed
post-16 choices. These are delivered through tutor time, assemblies and evening
meetings; please consult the weekly information sheet for advance notification
of planned events.
Some important events in the Year 11 calendar this year include academic
tutoring days, college talks and visits, careers interviews, and trial
exams in December. One highlight of the year is the Year 11 Prom, which
is held once the GCSE Exams are over.
I have every confidence that Year 11 students will rise to the challenge
of doing their best and all staff at Grey Court look forward to working
with Year 11 students and parents to ensure that this final year is a positive,
successful and memorable one.
