Year 8 - 2008-09

I would like to introduce myself in my new role as your child’s Phase Leader.

I am looking forward to continuing my work with all of the students as they move into in year 8 and to the continuation of working together with your son or daughter regarding their academic progress and personal development. Please do not hesitate to contact me or my team, should you need advice, help or clarification about your child’s progress at Grey Court. I am positive that if we work together, your child will have a successful and rewarding year in Year 8.

Your child has now entered their second year of secondary education. Year 7 was an excellent start for them and support from you at home helped us to make this transition year a positive experience for them; they are part of an enthusiastic and hardworking year group, and many of them have participated well in all aspects of school life. We are looking forward to continued good progress from them in Year 8.

Targets for all the children in Year 8 should be focussed around a continued improvement in academic achievement and participation in at least one extra-curricular activity. There are many opportunities offered to our students, which intensify the good experiences of this phase of their education and support the skills that are required in the classroom. Each student has agreed targets from last year to work towards; these will encourage students to take greater responsibility for their own learning and reflect upon their progress. They also provide an opportunity to discuss their progress with their teachers and tutor.

I am looking forward to our continued work together to ensure that the positive attitudes and high standards established in Year 7 will be maintained and built on this coming year. Please accept my sincere good wishes for the school year ahead.
