ICT at Grey Court School

As a specialist school in ICT Grey Court strives to be able to offer excellence in all aspects of ICT. Our facilities are first rate and include 4 PC suites which have enough space to allow students to work either on or off the PCs. We also have Interactive whiteboards in most departments and a wireless network with several laptop trolleys available across the school.

To further enhance our specialist status we have a classroom of the future, (see Ingenium on website) which is an incredibly new age learning space in which students can access a vast range of ICT options in order to support and increase their learning in all subjects.

In order to efficiently maintain a school with this much ICT, we have secured two full time specialised staff who are the network manager and a technician to run and constantly improve upon the ICT hardware provision within the school.

We believe strongly in motivating students toward exceeding their potential in ICT. In KS3 students follow the National Curriculum which has an important focus on how to use ICT skills to solve problems rather than ‘click here’, ‘click there’.

We understand the current level and capabilities students in ICT often come with to secondary school, as a result we co-ordinate heavily with local primary schools to ensure the ICT we provide is aimed at the right level, complementary to the students. In KS3 students learn ICT progressively three times a fortnight.

In KS4 every students achieves a qualification in ICT and we feel it is an imperative to prepare students for the real world. Depending on what pathway students are allocated to they will complete either a full GCSE, a half GCSE or aim to achieve several certificates in various ICT skills. We aim to secure students with a strong base in which further education or job opportunities may arise more easily and the scope of what we offer in KS4 ensure that this is achieved at Grey Court.
