All children are screened on entry for general learning difficulties
and specific problems such as Dyslexia or dyscalculia.
The department works with Faculties to monitor and support all pupils throughout
their time at Grey Court. Some children may need just that extra boost
with their reading skills, some might need study skills intervention or
support for exams; others may have specific needs relating to literacy acquisition,
speech and language, medical needs or behaviour – the department is
here to work for the inclusion of all.
The wide ranging work of the department includes;
Screening and assessment, both general and individual
Monitoring and tracking of progress of all students
Advice for teachers, parents and students
Inclusion and Learning Support
» Adolescence can be a difficult time for many teenagers. The department
also runs a special unit for young people with mild to moderate behavioural
difficulties
» This unit, located in Newman House (an early Georgian building on the
school site), provides respite and intervention aimed at supporting full
re-intervention and access to the mainstream curriculum
