Grey Court School GCSE results 2017 – Press Release

“What an outstanding year and another brilliant set of GCSE exam results for Grey Court School” Maggie Bailey, Headteacher.

“Once again our students have achieved outstanding results.  Over 80% of students achieved five or more ‘Good’ pass grades (including English and Maths). A/A* grades (and the new 8/9 grades) were exceptionally high at around 45% of all GCSE grades awarded to Grey Court students. Many of our departments had stand out results as well. There were 100% pass rates for the Biology, Chemistry and Physics departments, to name just a few. Grey Court also bucked the national trend of a decline in the top grades - for example, 21 of our students achieved grade 9s in Maths. This is 10% of the year group compared with the national figure of only 3% of grades being grade 9 in Maths.

Some of the individual student performances are staggering in terms of the number of optimum grades attained.  Whilst acknowledging the enormous achievements of the most able is very important, what gives me the greatest pleasure is the consistent progress that our students make irrespective of their ability or starting point.  We are a truly inclusive school that embraces an 'Every Child Every Day' philosophy and this along with the fantastic support and dedication of our parents and our wonderfully resourceful teachers have allowed us to scale such heights.  As Headteacher I feel immensely proud of the achievements of our young people - Well done everybody.” Maggie Bailey

Student Grace Hennessy, who achieved the top grades in every subject, said after opening her results “I’m shaking. It’s like a dream come true.”.

High achiever Joe Whittaker was also delighted with his results commenting “I’m really pleased. I am looking forward to coming back into the Grey Court system to continue working with my brilliant teachers.”

Anna Ferris Simpson, who also got all top grades, said “This is one of the best feelings I have ever had. I’m so relieved.”
