Overview

History is crucial to our understanding of our place in society and the world. A knowledge of the past shapes our future and creates citizens who are informed about their role in today’s world. Historians are highly valued by universities and employers for their skills of analysis, research and independent thought.

Facilities

Three specialist classrooms provide interactive learning opportunities for our young historians.

Key Stage 3

Students are guided through the major historical events of the past few centuries taking in world wars, revolutions and genocide.  They study significant national events from medieval times and the Tudors through to the suffragette movement. We also provide an understanding of the role of the British Empire in slavery and the development of modern medicine.

Key Stage 4

Students hone their skills in analysing source material and focus in greater depth on medicine in Britain, the Cold War, Nazi Germany and the Elizabethan era.
