Success breeds success: Grey Court Headteacher full of Pride as Year 11 students prove to be Top Cats.
In a LEGACY summer when England’s Lionesses built on previous successes to sweep all before them, Grey Court students have once again, proved to be worthy tournament winners.
This year's results make impressive reading with elite level performances across all the group:
-
50% of grades were 9-7
-
90% of students achieved 9-4 including English and Maths
-
27% of all GCSE grades 8 or 9
-
80% of students achieved a strong pass (grade 5) in both English and Maths.
-
93% of grades were 9-4
Headteacher, Mr Rhodes cited Lioness’ manager Sarina Wiegman’s achievement of 5 consecutive international championships as an inspiration with regards to his own desire to build on previous successes. “There was considerable pressure on this year’s cohort to match the legacy of our previous champions. However, as a team we did a lot of work to make sure that all aspects of our preparation were improved, aligned and ambitious.”
This sentiment was echoed by a delighted Daisy Weston, who had worked tirelessly with the year-group to build confidence and instill rigorous standards: “These results highlight that all the parts of our organisation - from our high performers to our disadvantaged students, from those with special educational needs to those who joined have been integrated from other countries and cultures - are given the skills, confidence and the mentality to be winners…even if at times it looked like we might have to rely on penalties!
Much like the Lioness’ immaculate Swiss performance, Grey Court’s success has been a true squad effort with an incredible 24 students achieving 8 grades at 8-9. Of these, Philine Zoeller achieved 9 grade 9s, Sacha Crivellari scored 8 grade 9s, Stanley Monaghan gained 10 grade 8/9s, Eva Logan-Wilson hit 9 grades at 8/9 and Alkinoos Andreos Doukas achieved 8 grades 8/9. Having enrolled in the form in record time, Alkinoos cited his desire to qualify for an early morning results day Nandos offer as a motivating factor in his outstanding performance.
In addition, Maya Sills and Mali Westbrook who both achieved 9 grades at 8 or above declared themselves delighted with the school’s performance. Meanwhile, Ned Lipton who gained 9 grades at 8 or above cited initiatives such as A* masterclasses and the passport to success programme as helping supercharge his performance. This sentiment was echoed by head of year, Mr Junaid Khan, who exclaimed that he was “feline fantastic now that I have processed these wonderful results: it feels like the weight of a European championship trophy has lifted off my shoulders - this is just purrfect.”
These results follow last week’s similarly Championship standard set of A level results which resulted in the highest number of students achieving places A* grades in the sixth Forms history.
