Whoo Hoo - Modern life most definitely isn't rubbish as Grey Court students celebrate another year of success!

In a summer of English doom and gloom with drought restrictions, stifling heat, rising energy prices and a World Cup semi-final exit, Grey Court students celebrated the school’s best results ever to prove that Modern Life most definitely isn’t rubbish!

This year's results make impressive reading with the students of Grey Court proving that there’s no other way but up for this cohort.

  • 49% of grades were 9-7

  • 95% of students achieved 9-4 including English and Maths

  • 29% of all GCSE grades 8 or 9

  • 80% of students achieved a strong pass (grade 5) in both English and Maths.

  • 92% of students achieved  9-4 in at least 5 subjects including English and Maths.

  • 95% of grades were 9-4

Associate Head teacher, Ms Price, declared herself to be delighted with the  results which “highlight the inclusive nature of our school and how we push for the exceptional across every metric.”  This sentiment was echoed by a Deputy Head Teacher, Mr Gordon-Walker, who praised the “Grey Court think tank of staff, students and parents for working hard and pulling together to generate exceptional outcomes.”

Amidst the universal success a number of students will be feeling particularly good on results day. Yousef Al Bayati, Gustav Alpsten, Gunes Atakan, Alyssia Capper, Leo Senanayake and Odile Furminieux were amongst a raft of students who scored 10 or more GCSEs at grades 8/9. Gustav, who also was a recipient of the Orwell Youth Prize for his poetry over the holiday, was happy to have scaled academic heights he only dreamed of when he started the school in year 7, but was now looking forward to some leisure time before starting sixth form.

These results follow last week’s outstanding A level achievements and highlight how this year’s GCSE cohort resisted a summer of park life in order to produce another chart topping album! Head of Year, Ms Woods summed up the mood by letting out an ecstatic “Whoo Hoo. My four years with this amazing cohort has passed in such a blur.  They are such an amazing year group: kind, ambitious and funny.  I have loved being part of their Grey Court journey.”
