Grey Court Sixth Form: As temperatures soar, Sixth Form results go Supersonic!
Grey Court Sixth Form celebrated another year of incredible success as its students recorded results that matched the soaring temperatures across the country. With 16.1% of grades recorded at A* and 32% of Btec grades at distinction* the school’s yearly grade thermometer went truly supersonic!
When quizzed about whether the 7% rise in A* at A-level was part of a masterplan, a delighted Head teacher, Mr Rhodes qualified the success: “Some might say, and I would agree, that this is due to the industry of students, staff and parents across the Grey Court community. In short, we all do whatever it takes to achieve the best results for each cohort that we serve.”
Last year’s result of 9% of grades at A* now feels half the world away as grades across the year group have also seen stellar rises, with the headline acts being:
16% of grades at A*
39% of grades at A*/A
69% of A-level grades at A*-B
89% of grades at A*- C
77% of BTec grades at D*/D
Lead performers amongst this year’s cohort included Bertie Budden with A*A*A* A* who became Grey Court’s first student to read Natural Sciences at Cambridge. A delighted Bertie announced that he is looking forward to “pursuing his passion for the study of Newtonian mechanics.” A full set of A* were also recorded by Hamzah Malik, who will study Mathematics at Warwick University, Hana Saleh who will read Law at LSE, Sofiane Tahir who has been accepted into King's College for Computer Science and Isla Dempster who will read law at Liverpool. In addition, a further 25 Grey Court students achieved all A*/A grades including Lemma Mohamed (Medicine at Leeds) and Carlo Tillman (Veterinary Science at Bristol.) Grey Court also continued its record of sporting success, with Archie Weir securing a football scholarship to St Peter's University in New Jersey and Sana Chomoko (Di*A*A) gaining a place to study Sport and Exercise Psychology at Loughborough.
Head of Year 13, Ms Penny Moore, admitted to feeling “ecstatic” when she first viewed the results sheets on account of the “ambition and proactive problem-solving” her students had demonstrated. Head of Sixth Form, Ms Higham, also noted the high performance of subjects such as mathematics, economics, computer science and physics, which collectively produced 24 A* grades, exclaiming that these results would live forever in her memory.
