Overview

Economics is the study of how individuals, businesses and governments produce and allocate resources. It leads to an understanding of supply and demand and how the markets work. Economics is key to an appreciation of national and global stability. Students study the two main strands of economics: microeconomics (prices, wages, households and businesses) and macroeconomics (the economy as a whole – inflation, unemployment, trade and development, tax and spending), and learn about the interplay between the two strands - how national and global decisions affect families and businesses.

Facilities

Economics A level is taught in the purpose-built sixth form centre by economics experts.

Growth

Careers

The analytical thought processes demanded by an A level in economics are highly valued in the workplace and in a diversity of careers. These include roles in finance, consultancy, regulation, journalism, government and international organisations.
