- GCSE geography minimum grade 6.
Overview
Geography A level is the study of the world around us, the physical world and the impact humans have. It explores some of the most pressing concerns of today such as climate change, urban development and sustainability. A level geographers at Grey Court concentrate on physical geography such as coastal landscapes, tectonics and water and energy security; and on human geography such as globalisation, regeneration, superpowers and human rights. Students deepen their understanding and research skills through an independent fieldwork project.
Facilities
Geography A level is taught in the purpose-built sixth form block by specialist geography teachers.
Growth
Students develop skills gained at GCSE, cementing knowledge and thinking and working more independently. There is an increased focus on the importance of independent fieldwork and students are expected to develop as global citizens, with an understanding of wider geographical concepts.
Enrichment
We provide a variety of opportunities for fieldwork tasks and arrange trips and visits. Students attend an exam board conference and participate in a local university fieldwork studies day.
Careers
Geography is one of the most pertinent subjects of today and opens career opportunities in engineering, architecture, planning, surveying, government and travel and tourism.
