Pupil premium

The pupil premium grant is additional government funding to support disadvantaged pupils and other students who need extra help. The aim of this is to close the attainment gap. Research shows that pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds often face extra challenges and may not perform as well as their peers.

Schools receive funding for pupils who:

  • currently receive free school meals, or have received free school meals at any point in the preceding six years (Ever6 FSM)
  • are currently, or have ever been, in local authority care
  • have parents serving in the armed forces.

Grey Court School follows Department for Education guidance which states: "Pupil premium is not a personal budget for individual pupils, and schools do not have to spend pupil premium so that it solely benefits eligible pupils." We use the funding strategically to support any students facing barriers to learning, including poor attendance, low engagement, low confidence or academic underperformance.

Our goal is to ensure that disadvantaged pupils of all abilities reach their potential, achieve in line with their peers, and improve their life chances. By targeting support carefully, we aim to reduce the attainment gap, raise aspirations, and secure strong outcomes for every student.

Your school's excellent outcomes for disadvantaged pupils places it among the very best nationally.
