Application and prospectus

Each year we welcome a number of external applicants to our sixth form. These students make up approximately 25% of the year 12 intake. Places are allocated to existing year 11 Grey Court students in the first instance. Remaining places are then offered to external applicants. If we are over subscribed we allocate places based on distance to home, using the safest cycling route. Full details about the over subscription criteria may be found by following the link below.

Allocating a place for an external applicant may also depend on subject choices. If a subject is full we will offer places to applicants who have chosen to study subjects in which we have spaces.

We know that applying for sixth form can be a daunting task and we aim to guide you through the process to make it as easy as possible. Whether it's four A levels, a level 3 BTEC and an A level or a different mix with an apprenticeship, we are flexible enough to accommodate your needs and informed enough to help you through the process.

The application process

On-time applications for September 2022 have now closed, however, you may submit a late application here.

Late applicants are considered once all of our on-time applications have been processed. You may be contacted at any time between submitting this form and our enrolment days on 18 and 19 August. Please note that places are offered if we have spaces in the individual subjects a student is applying for. We will also be applying our oversubscription criteria of distance from home to school.

Existing Grey Court students will be invited for an initial transition interview in November/December 2021, then all applicants, internal and external, will be invited for a formal interview in January/February 2022. During this interview we ask you to show us a piece of work of which you are particularly proud, and external students are also asked to bring their latest school report, which should include attendance data. We will be in touch closer to the time with your invitation to interview and a reminder of the documents you must bring.

If you have any questions about Grey Court sixth form or the application process please do not hesitate to contact our sixth form manager at Please include "sixth form admissions" in your title. We are happy to arrange a visit to our school or to speak with you at any time.
