Overview
Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others' needs, wants and values.
Facilities
We have six specialist, equipped rooms for students to practise their skills in design and production. Students have fully functioning designing software and specialist equipment including computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) at their disposal.
Key Stage 3
Students are introduced to the elements of product design, graphics, textiles, engineering, technology and food. They learn to use specialist tools and machinery and gradually build up their skills and knowledge to design and create an array of products using paper, card, fabric, food, electronics, mechanics, wood, metals and plastics.
Key Stage 4
Students choose to specialise and take GCSE subjects in Graphic Design, Textiles or Food Preparation, each of which is a combination of theory and practical application.
